We stage the annual emancipation day cricket match. The first day of August is very significant to most people who are of African and Caribbean Heritage. This date signifies our freedom from slavery. A new dawn, a new beginning. This was the time when the first barriers of equal rights and justice was removed.
At last we were FREE. We ceased to be another man’s property. In recognition of those who suffered for our FREEDOM we aim to bring the African Caribbean community together annually on this date or the first Sunday closest to this date for purpose of Information, Education and Entertainment.
The emancipation day event is held at South Hampstead Cricket Club, Milverton Road, London, NW6 7AR.
Since its inception, the event has benefited from two main business sponsors, namely Milesahead Properties Limited and Wadadas Catering. These businesses cover the cost of the hiring of the venue and the food, beverages and gifts for the players, umpires and all other officials involved with staging of the event.
Community businesses are invited to sponsor a player’s shirt. By doing so they are able to promote their businesses and services to the wider community.
